About the Alexander Technique

The Alexander Technique is a simple, easily learned method for reducing stress and improving balance, coordination, flexibility and clarity of thinking in all your activities.

Benefits that many people notice immediately include a feeling of lightness throughout their body, greater flexibility and range of motion, a sense of well-being and a decrease in levels of pain, tension and stress.

My approach to teaching is simple and clear. You will see immediate results, and be able to easily apply the work anywhere, at any time with any activity.

The Alexander Technique is based on principles of human coordination and movement, discovered over 100 years ago by F.M. Alexander. Unlike other techniques for improving human movement and functioning, with the Alexander Technique you do not learn something new to do; instead you learn how to stop doing what is causing you discomfort, stress and tension. You learn to become more aware of your physical, mental and emotional self, and use that awareness to move more easily and comfortably, with less tension and effort and better balance and flexibility in any activity.

ALWAYS Wear your Moneybelt

ALWAYS wear your moneybelt, I tell my daughter when she travels.
Does Mom heed her own advice?  I will from now on.
I taught two workshops at the recent Congress of Alexander Technique teachers in Lugano, Switzerland, and, naturally, dressed up to teach–with no good way to wear a moneybelt.
That night, at a restaurant, I was talking [...]
